The Market welcomes Alex Neal

Alex will be starting her senior year at UNC Chapel Hill in the fall, majoring in Biology and Sociology and minoring in Chemistry. She is from Forest City, North Carolina and has enjoyed learning more about a new rural community this summer – Washington! She will be working with Washington Harbor District Alliance as a Public Fellows Intern through the UNC-Chapel Hill SECU Public Fellows Intern Program.

Alex feels passionately about food equity and putting an end to food insecurity and loves the ideas behind the Harbor District Market and WHDA. She hopes to provide time and energy to the team at Harbor District to aid in their mission and has enjoyed learning about all of the small businesses and culture that Washington has to offer.

Alex enjoys reading, going on walks, and spending time with friends and family. Throughout the school year, she volunteers within the Chapel Hill community with a crisis intervention center, mentors middle school students through Young Life, and works on campus in a lab with mice! This summer, she has enjoyed the warm weather at farmer’s markets, in the mountains, and at the beach.

Alex is very excited to work with the Harbor District this summer and can’t wait to see all Washington has to offer!
